Michigan Agricultural Mediation Program

The Michigan Agricultural Mediation Program (MAMP) provides no-cost dispute resolution to farmers and others within the agricultural community.

MAMP traces its roots to the Agricultural Credit Act of 1987 which was precipitated by the farm loan crisis.  Subsequent Farm Bills have expanded the scope of services offered by MAMP (and its sibling organizations in 41 states) to include assistance with resolving most types of conflict which farm businesses may encounter, e.g., loans, credit, wetland determinations, compliance with farm programs, organic certification, leases, family farm transitions, and farmer-neighbor disputes.  Services are free to disputing parties and legally binding once an agreement is reached.  In recent years 77 percent of cases have reached agreement.
